Michael
Patrick Flanagan represented the 5th District
of Illinois in the historic 104th Congress.
He sat on the Committees on the Judiciary, Government
Reform and Oversight, and Veterans' Affairs.
He was Vice Chairman of the Judiciary Committee's
Subcommittee on the Constitution, Vice Chairman
of the Government Reform and Oversight Committee's
Subcommittee on Government Management, Information
and Technology, and Co-Chair of the House Republican
Urban Caucus. He was appointed to the House-Senate
Conference Committee for the Telecommunications
Act of 1996.
Prior
to his Congressional Service, Michael was commissioned
as a Second Lieutenant in the United States
Army Field Artillery. He was selected to
study Greek at the Defense Language Institute
in Monterey, California, and was then assigned
to Greece as a Combat Arms Officer, specializing
in atomic weapons. During his four years
of active duty, he was promoted to First Lieutenant
and was on the list of those selected for promotion
to Captain when he left active duty to attend
law school at Loyola University. After
passing the bar, Michael volunteered to return
to active duty, assigned to Headquarters, U.S.
Armed Forces Central Command, at Fort McPherson,
Georgia.
After
leaving Congress, Michael and his firm, Flanagan
Consullting LLC, have represented both large
and small corporations, organizations, and associations.
Current and past clients include - American
Airlines, Comcast, the Assyrian American League,
P2P United, the Illinois Chamber of Commerce/Transportation
for Illinois Coalition, 321 Studios, Evergreen
International Aviation, General Motors, and several municipalities
in Illinois along with many others.
